    The University has an approved a parental accommodation guideline for all postdocs, grad student teaching assistants and research assistants. The guideline suggests 6 weeks of paid leave for the primary caregiver following the birth or adoption of a child.

  • Flexible Spending Account
   Flexible Spending Account: U. S. federal tax law allows for employees to set aside a monthly sum, pre-tax, to spend on out-of-pocket medical expenses, such as co-pays, co-insurance and prescription costs. Unfortunately, as postdocs at Penn State are defined as "trainees" not employees, federal tax law does not allow us access to Flexible Spending Accounts.
